WhatsApp is introducing a fresh functionality called "secret codes" that enhances the level of privacy for your secured conversations on the messaging platform. Earlier this year, the application introduced locked chats to assist individuals in concealing sensitive discussions. Now, it is incorporating an additional measure to safeguard these chats and make them more challenging to locate if someone gains access to your phone.

Your confidential code can comprise of letters, numbers, special characters, and even emojis. By hiding the locked chats folder from your chatlist, they can only be unveiled by entering your secret code in the search bar. The purpose of this feature is to ensure that individuals with access to your phone remain unaware of the existence of a locked chats in folder.
According to a report on Tech Crunch, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced on his WhatsApp Channel that they are introducing a new feature called Chat Lock on WhatsApp. This feature allows users to protect their chats with a unique password. With this update, users can now set their locked chats to only appear when they enter the secret code in the search bar. This ensures that no one can accidentally stumble upon their most private conversations.
It is important to note that the use of a secret code is not mandatory, and you can still opt to have your locked chats visible in your chatlist.
WhatsApp has recently introduced secret codes, which will be gradually rolled out worldwide over the next few months. This feature was added to Chat Lock, which was launched in May, allowing users to lock their chats and store them in a separate folder that can only be accessed with their device password, face ID, or fingerprint. Initially, Meta had announced that users would be able to create a custom password for their chats, which would be different from their phone password. The company has now fulfilled this promise after six months.
