Mobile data theft is the unauthorized access, copying, or transfer of personal or confidential data stored on a mobile device. The government is going to take strict action against this and enhance phone security for users.
Recently there have been multiple complaints of misuse of data and spying by pre-installed apps.
The Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity) tweeted on Tuesday that the security of mobile phones is very important and that the government is in consultation with stakeholders to develop adequate security standards.
The government is collaborating with industry stakeholders to develop and implement security standards and best practices for mobile devices and networks. They might also work with law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute cyber-criminals who engage in mobile phone data theft and other illegal activities.
The government needs to play an important role in enhancing mobile phone security to mitigate mobile phone security risks.
