Now Apple Maps can show real-time EV charging availability. Check details

With iOS 17, Apple Maps will display real-time data on the availability of charging stations and let users choose their preferred charging network. According to 9To5Mac, the tech giant first revealed support for EV routing in Apple Maps during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2020.

Drivers of the Ford Mustang Mach-E received the feature last year, while Porsche Taycan drivers received it earlier this year.

Users' iPhones will now prompt them to set up their preferred EV charging networks once iOS 17 has been loaded on it.

Users have a variety of alternatives to choose from, including Tesla's Supercharger network, Chargepoint, Electrify America, and more. After consumers choose their favorite networks, Apple Maps will smartly display information on current charging availability.

Additionally, Apple Maps will only show charging alternatives that are compatible with the charging port which is used by the electric vehicle the user is driving.

"As of right now, it appears that this feature is only available to cars that support Apple Maps EV routing, which is only the Mach-E and Taycan," the report said.
