Instagram is testing a new feature that allows users to share short selfie videos on their Notes. Instead of just a profile photo, users will soon be able to have looping selfie videos on top of their messages. The feature was demonstrated by Adam Mosseri, who showcased a livelier DM section with tiny videos auto-playing on top of messages.
While the reception to this feature is yet to be determined, the Notes feature has been popular, so expect to see a variety of content in your DMs. Instagram has been focusing on short videos recently, with them appearing in stories, reels, and now DMs.
Mosseri announced the new feature in a post, stating that users will soon be able to update their default profile photo in Notes with a short, looping video. Users will still be able to add text to accompany the video.
The video selfie feature is currently in testing mode and will be accessible through a camera icon on the profile photo in the Notes section. Users will be able to record videos directly from Notes and share them with their contacts, along with text to express their thoughts.
