Developed in-house, the 'Floodwatch' app boasts a user-friendly design and provides both readable and audio broadcasts. It ensures accessibility by offering information in both English and Hindi languages. Notably, the app stands out with its real-time flood monitoring capacity, enabling users to stay informed about ongoing flood situations across the entire country.
Real-Time Data Utilization for Accurate Flood Forecasts
Leveraging nearly real-time data from diverse sources on river flow, the app delivers precise flood forecasts for the nearest user location. By simply visiting the Home Page, users can readily access flood advisories pertinent to their proximity.
Interactive Map for Customized Information
The 'Floodwatch' app comes equipped with an Interactive Map, enabling users to directly select a station to view either the CWC Flood Forecast (24 hours ahead) or the Flood Advisory (up to 7 days). Alternatively, users can conveniently search for a specific station's name using the search box. Once a station is chosen, the map automatically zooms in on its location.
Comprehensive Flood Information Access
In addition to its interactive features, the app provides comprehensive state-wise and basin-wise Flood Forecasts (24 hours ahead) or Flood Advisories (up to 7 days). Users can easily access this information by selecting their desired stations, states, or basins from the dropdown menu.

Kushvinder Vohra, the chairman of the Central Water Commission, expressed his enthusiasm for "Floodwatch" during the app's introduction. He emphasized the app's ability to provide real-time flood updates and forecasts to the public. Available for free on the Google Play Store, its availability on Apple iOS devices is anticipated soon.
