AApple's thrilling event, known as "Scary Fast," came to a close on Monday (5:30 a.m. on Tuesday IST). During this event, Apple unveiled their latest Macs equipped with the newest version of their remarkable M-series chip.
According to 'The Verge', Apple's M3 chips were the star of this month's event, with the new lineup including the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chips. Apple claims that these are the first personal computer chips made using the more efficient 3-nanometer process.
The latest iterations of these machines retain the renowned design and port arrangement of their predecessors, but now showcase a captivating and fresh "space black" hue, replacing the previous space grey alternative.
Faster and More Efficient CPU
According to a press release, the new CPU in the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chips has architectural improvements that make both the performance and efficiency cores faster. The performance cores are up to 30% faster than those in the M1 family, so tasks like compiling and testing millions of lines of code in Xcode are even faster. And musicians can use hundreds of audio tracks, plug-ins, and virtual instruments in Logic Pro without any lag. The efficiency cores are up to 50% faster than the efficiency cores in M1, so everyday tasks are faster than ever, while the system uses less battery life. Together, these cores create a CPU that delivers the same multithreaded performance as M1 using as little as half the power, and up to 35% more performance at peak power.
Apple's unified memory architecture
All M3 chips use a unified memory architecture, a key feature of Apple silicon. This provides high bandwidth, low latency, and unmatched power efficiency. All of the technologies on the chip can access the same data without having to copy it between different memory pools because there is only one pool of memory in a custom package. This further improves performance and efficiency and reduces the amount of memory needed for most tasks. Additionally, support for up to 128GB of memory unlocks workflows that were previously not possible on a laptop, such as AI developers working with even larger transformer models with billions of parameters.
Battery up to 22 hours
The M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max's power-efficient performance enables the new MacBook Pro and iMac to meet Apple's rigorous energy efficiency standards, resulting in the longest battery life ever achieved by a Mac - up to 22 hours.2 As a result, less time is required to be plugged in, and less energy is consumed over the device's lifespan.
Price and Preorders
The starting price for the top-end 16-inch M3 Max MacBook Pro is Rs 3,99,900. However, should you choose to customize it with additional specifications, the price can go beyond limits. For instance, opting for the highest RAM option available on these new Macs would result in an additional cost of Rs 1,00,000, making the total price Rs 4,99,900.
The new 24-inch iMac with M3 can be ordered today, Monday, October 30, on apple.com/store and in the Apple Store app in 27 countries and regions, including the U.S. It will be delivered to customers and will be available at Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Resellers starting Tuesday, November 7.
