Aadhaar enrollment is now possible using Iris scan if fingerprints are unavailable

   • If an iris scan isn't viable, individuals can proceed with only fingerprint scans.

3. No Biometrics:

   • For those unable to provide either iris or fingerprint scans, enrolment is still possible by furnishing essential details like name, gender, address, date, and year of birth.

Further Verification:

To compensate for the absence of biometric data, a specific photographic procedure ensures comprehensive identity verification.

Promoting Inclusivity:

This decision aims to make Aadhaar accessible to individuals facing unique circumstances, fostering inclusivity in social security schemes. It reflects the government's commitment to accommodating individuals with disabilities or challenges in obtaining official identification.

Deadline for Free Aadhaar Updates:

While celebrating this inclusivity, it's crucial to note the approaching deadline for free Aadhaar updates. The UIDAI has set December 14, 2023, as the final day for individuals to update their Aadhaar details free of charge. This can be accomplished on the myAadhaar portal, and for those opting for Aadhaar centres, a service fee of Rs 50 will be applicable.

Enrolment Flexibility and Advisory to Service Kendras:

In response to challenges faced by individuals with blurred fingerprints or similar disabilities, eligible individuals can now enrol for Aadhaar using an iris scan if fingerprints are unavailable. Minister Chandrasekhar emphasized this flexibility in enrolment options through an official statement.

An advisory has been issued to all Aadhaar Service Kendras, directing them to provide Aadhaar to individuals with fingerprint challenges or similar issues by utilizing alternate biometrics.

Enrolment Process for Biometric Challenges:

Eligible individuals encountering difficulties with both finger and iris biometrics are permitted to enrol without submitting either. Essential information is captured alongside available biometrics, and missing biometrics are duly noted in the enrolment software.

For individuals unable to provide both finger and iris biometrics, a photograph is taken as per specific guidelines to signify the unavailability of these biometrics. The Supervisor of the Aadhaar enrolment centre validates such exceptional enrolments.

Updating Aadhaar Details:

For updating Aadhaar details, follow these steps:

1. Visit uidai.gov.in and create/log in to your account.
2. Click "Update Demographic Data."
3. Check the status and choose the document update option.
4. Enter your Aadhaar number and the OTP received on your registered mobile number.
5. Keep supporting documents ready.
6. Receive a unique update request number to track your application status.
