Want to travel into space? ISRO space tourism module will make it possible by 2030

ISRO is currently working on developing a safe and reusable spacesuit and space module for sub-orbital space travel, which is expected to be operational by 2030. The space tourism program will allow wealthy individuals to experience sub-orbital flights, lasting approximately 15 minutes at the edge of space, with a brief period of low gravity before returning to Earth via descent.

The key difference between sub-orbital and orbital space travel is the speed of the spacecraft. While suborbital rockets travel at a speed below orbital velocity, orbital spacecraft must reach orbital velocity. ISRO Chairman S Somnath confirmed that work is in progress to create India's very own tourism space module, which will be safe and reusable.

According to Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Atomic Energy, and Space, ISRO has already begun feasibility studies for India's sub-orbital space tourism mission. It is expected that the average cost of a ticket will be approximately Rs 6 crore.
