ISRO is ready to launch its third lunar exploration mission, Chandrayaan-3 on July 14. This milestone makes India the fourth country to successfully land its spacecraft on the moon's surface. The launch is scheduled for Friday, July 14, 2023, in the afternoon from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre located in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. India has successfully embarked on two lunar missions to date. The first Chandrayaan mission, launched on October 22, 2008, made significant discoveries, including the detection of water on the moon. This mission paved the way for further exploration and findings. Chandrayaan-2, India's second lunar mission, launched on July 22, 2019. However, the mission encountered a setback when the lander lost communication just 2.1 kilometres above the lunar surface. Chandrayaan-3 is India's third lunar mission and a follow-up to the 2019 Chandrayaan-2 mission. The previous mission was partially unsuccessful, as its lander and rover were unable to perform a soft landing on the Moon. However, Chandrayaan-3 is designed to address the shortcomings of its predecessor and successfully land on the lunar surface.

The main goals of Chandrayaan-3 are:
-To show how to land safely and gently on the surface of the Moon.
-To demonstrate how a rover can move around on the Moon.
-To carry out scientific experiments directly on the Moon's surface.
According to ISRO Chairman S Somanath, Chandrayaan-3 is planned to land softly on the Moon around August 23 or 24. However, this timing might change based on the Moon's sunrise. If there is a delay, ISRO will schedule the landing for September instead.
