ISRO officials said that 23 companies have expressed interest in acquiring the agency's Small Satellite Launch Vehicle technology, following the success of its numerous missions.
Pawan K. Goenka, Chairman of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe), expressed a strong interest in observing how the private sector utilizes the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) technology. He added that there has been a "tremendous response" to the Expression of Interest (EOI) for the technology, with 23 companies expressing interest in applying. Of course, only one of them will be selected.
IN-SPACe, an independent agency under the Department of Space (DOS), was established in 2020 to promote, enable, authorize, and supervise non-government organizations in their space-related activities. In July, the agency issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the transfer of technology (ToT) of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV), with the deadline for responses being September 25.
Highlighting that there are currently 42 applications and space technologies earmarked for transfer to the private sector, Mr Goenka emphasized that ISRO and IN-SPACe are collaborating closely to initiate this process, with 19 technologies already prepared for transfer. He further explained that IN-SPACe is actively engaged in coordinating the manufacturing aspects in partnership with state governments. The overarching goal is to establish a comprehensive infrastructure, featuring a plug-and-play setup for industries, where the state government will provide the necessary facilities.
