Targeting the Health Sector: Israeli Airstrike Kills 7 Medical Professionals in Lebanon

Israel launched a deadly airstrike on Friday, targeting Dar Al Amal Hospital in Lebanon’s Baalbek district. The strike resulted in the deaths of hospital's director and six other hospital employees. The Lebanese Health Ministry expressed its grief over the killings and urged the international community to intervene. The Ministry reported that Israeli strikes have killed 214 medical workers, including paramedics, since October, reflecting the targeted nature of the assaults on Lebanon's health infrastructure.  The Lebanese Health Ministry and international observers have called for urgent intervention to halt the targeting of medical facilities and professionals.

Israeli Strikes in  Lebanon and Gaza

In southern Lebanon areas like Bint Jbeil and Beit Yahoun have endured intense artillery shelling in past day. Airstrikes have also targeted Kounine village, causing further destruction and loss of life.

In Gaza, Israeli airstrikes and tank fire led to at least 19 deaths overnight. Gaza’s Civil Defence reported that many of the casualties were children, with more than 40 others injured. Israeli military forces also conducted raids in the southern suburbs of Beirut near Hadath and Choueifat. These areas were targeted shortly after Israeli military issued displacement orders to residents. An earlier attack in Beirut’s central Basta area killed at least four people and injured 23 people.

Hezbollah Strikes Back

In southern Lebanon, Hezbollah forces continue to resist Israeli airstrikes. The group claimed responsibility for hitting two Israeli tanks with guided missiles. Since late September, Israel has conducted a series of airstrikes in Lebanon. According to Lebanese health authorities, these strikes have killed more than 3,600 people, injured over 15,300, and displaced over 1 million residents.
