Four women have been chosen to run the World's remotest Post office and Count Penguins

Four women in Antarctica have been selected for the most unusual job you could ever imagine. They have been chosen to run the world's most southern Post office and Gift shop and count penguins! Since the pandemic began, this post office which houses a museum has been shut. While the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust was preparing to reopen, they had posted four job positions, which included a base leader, a postmaster, a shop manager and a wildlife monitor. They received 4,000 applications out of which four women were chosen to travel 9,000 miles to do the job.

Another woman named Vicky Inglis, who had previously worked there will go with these four women for a period of ten days to help and assist them and make sure these four women are settled well. Abandoning all home comforts, this team will work for five months at Goudier Island in the Antarctic Peninsula.

During this job, these women won't have access to running water or a flushing toilet and will have to deal with sub-zero temperatures. They will share their space with a colony of gentoo penguins, which they will have to count as a part of their job to monitor and protect these birds. The role of the trust under which these women will work is to preserve British Antarctic heritage and monitor the impact of wildlife. The trust takes care of the island's buildings and property, keeps a record of the island's ships and visitors and runs the post office. These women will soon get proper training, lessons from a penguinologist and first aid training.

They will start their mission in November 2022 and stay until march 2023.
