Mid-Air Terror: Air India Flight Drops 300 Feet, 17 Injured in Severe Turbulence

Mid-Air Nightmare: Air India Flight Drops 300 Feet Over Bay of Bengal, 17 Injured

A routine Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi turned into a terrifying ordeal for its passengers on August 4. The Airbus A320 was flying smoothly over the Bay of Bengal when it suddenly encountered severe, unexpected turbulence.

Key Highlights of the Incident:

  • Sudden Drop: Within a matter of seconds, the aircraft plummeted approximately 300 feet, catching everyone off guard. What made the situation even more terrifying was that no major storm or bad weather was visible outside the aircraft.

  • Chaos in the Cabin: Passengers reported that the plane shook violently for about 2 to 3 minutes. Those not wearing seat belts were thrown from their seats. Food trays scattered across the aisles, luggage fell from the overhead bins, and sheer panic took over the cabin.

  • Injuries Sustained: A total of 17 people were injured during the frightening ordeal, including 13 passengers and 4 crew members.

  • Safe Landing: Despite the severe mid-air scare, the flight managed to land safely in New Delhi.

This frightening incident serves as a crucial reminder for all air travelers: regardless of whether the seat belt sign is illuminated or not, always keep your seat belt fastened while seated.
