Wrestlers take to the streets in protest against strongman leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh

Seven female wrestlers in India have filed a sexual harassment complaint against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), at the Connaught Place police station in Central Delhi. Earlier this year, a group of top Indian wrestlers protested against the WFI chief and other trainers, accusing them of sexually exploiting female wrestlers. The protesters have returned to Delhi's Jantar Mantar with a fresh police complaint, demanding that the government make public a report on the issue that has not yet been filed. The government had formed a five-member oversight committee, headed by boxer MC Mary Kom, which submitted its findings in the first week of April.

However, the ministry has not made its findings public. The wrestlers are now threatening to take legal action. Swati Maliwal, who is the head of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), has sent a notice to the Delhi Police for not registering an FIR related to the case. The wrestlers had complained to the Commission that they had given a written complaint to the Delhi Police, but their FIR had not been registered so far. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has denied the charges, and the federation has claimed that the athletes who have levelled sexual harassment charges against the WFI chief have a hidden agenda.
