The Bombay High Court received an advance possession letter from the Maharashtra government on Thursday for the new HC structure that would be situated on 30 acres in Bandra East. The letter was entered into the record by a division bench that included Justice Sandeep Marne and Acting Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar. However, because the records of rights and land reservations had not changed, the bench decided to keep an eye on the situation.
The Registrar (Original Side) of the High Court of Bombay received a letter from the Tehsildar (Revenue) of Mumbai Suburban informing of the advance possession of 30.16 acres of land in Bandra Government Colony for the building.
As a result, the situation has been postponed until August 9, 2023, for additional guidance. Eknath Dhokale, an attorney, represented the initial petitioner.
The Maharashtra government notified the High Court on March 30, 2023, that it will provide 30.16 acres of land for the development of the High Court Complex in Bandra East.
The court had been notified by Advocate General Birendra Saraf that the Public Works Department had consented to give up the property for a new High Court Complex. He stated that the formal reservation process and GR will come next. He added that the complex would include central tribunals, lawyer's offices, and judge's offices, and the PWD sent the bench a circular.
