The public was finally given access to the long-awaited Kolshet Creek garden by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) lately after an extended wait of a year. This large garden, which covers around six acres, has been open to the public for the past year. TMC chose to keep it closed, claiming that authorities would not open it to the public until after a formal inauguration ceremony.
Initial requests for the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) to make the garden accessible to the public came from concerned Thanekars on Twitter. The TMC has not made it accessible despite demands, though. Sanjay Kelkar, Niranjan Davkhare, and local leader Sachin Shingare of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who followed up with TMC officials frequently were able to eventually open the garden for public use.
The Kolshet Creek garden's equipment and features were inspected by Kolshet members as well as MLC Niranjan Davkhare on Saturday, June 17. The national government's Smart City project provided funding for the construction of this garden as part of the Thane Smart City Program.
The BJP's Niranjan Davkhare extended his gratitude to the TMC for its efforts in creating the lovely garden, saying, "We thoroughly inspected the garden and I commend the TMC for their work. Additionally, we are grateful to the central government for their Smart City Initiatives, which have played a crucial role in enhancing the development of cities for the benefit of their residents."
"It brings great joy to witness the garden finally being accessible to the general public of Thane. For the past few months, nearby residents expressed their discontent over the intentional closure of the garden. However, thanks to our collective efforts, we have successfully opened the garden for everyone," said Sachin Shingare, a local leader from the BJP.
