Vygr Maharashtra: High Tidal Waves Hit Mumbai, Gujarat Coast amid Cyclone Biparjoy

The yellow signal has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for Mumbai, the nation's financial hub, as well as its neighboring towns of Thane and Palghar. An IMD official reported that some areas of Mumbai and Maharashtra saw rain on Sunday night. Mumbai City and the areas around its shoreline saw strong gusts as Cyclone Biparjoy's intensity increased and sent rain to the state's western parts. Due to dust particles, strong winds also had an impact on vision and air quality. Gusty winds caused several trees to fall in some areas of Mumbai, according to a city official. Tourists in Ganpatipule town in the coastal Ratnagiri district were taken aback by the large waves. Tourists are scared away by the waves powerful surge as they pound the shore. No significant injuries were indicated in the event.

As Cyclone Biparjoy has become an extremely strong cyclonic storm, IMD has also issued an orange signal for Gujarat's Saurashtra and Kutch coasts. In the upcoming days, Pakistan and the state are expected to suffer. According to IMD forecasters, the cyclone will move almost northward until Wednesday morning before shifting to the north-northeast and crossing the Saurashtra and Kutch and nearby Pakistani coasts between Mandvi (Gujarat) and Karachi (Pakistan) near Jakhau Port (Gujarat) by Thursday noon as a very severe cyclonic storm with maximum sustained wind speeds of 125–135 kmph gusting to 150 kmph.
