Vygr Maharashtra: Bombay HC disappointment over failure of police to find a woman missing in 2006

Bombay HC expressed its disappointment when police failed to find a woman missing in 2006. Police didn't carry out a full-fledged investigation regarding this case. They have to be sensitive enough because that girl's parents haven't got any closure yet, is what Justice Revati Mohite-Dere and Justice Gauri Godse said.

Vinayak Sawant, who's daughter is missing, went to Delhi for Satsang in 2006. At the entrance gate, he and his daughter went apart and when he entered inside Satsang he couldn't find her. She had hearing disability. She was 23 when she lost. He registered a complaint the very next day and several complaints later on, but no effective measures were taken by the police.

In February 2020, he got a call from Avinash Haldar, Parbhani saying he had seen his daughter and he should contact Haldar immediately. At that point, the case became suspicious and Vinayak Sawant filed a petition regarding it. But the prosecutor of police put his side in court, and said "there are so many police stations in Parbhani, we are not able to find Avinash Haldar. Sawant must provide his address details." Justice Revati Mohite-Dere and Justice Gauri Godse were disturbed by the submission made by the prosecutor. They ordered the police to take prompt action as soon as possible. Now the case is with the crime branch and they will provide further information on July 6.
