Vygr Maharashtra : MBMC builds traffic themed park for kids in Mira Bhayandar

The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) is opening its first theme park on Mira Road to teach children about road safety and traffic rules while having fun. The state government has previously allocated Rs 5 crore for a 4,000-square-metre site in Mira Road's Kanakia neighbourhood.

The park will have an audio-visual centre, cycling tracks, a cafeteria, an amphitheatre, a children's play area, and attractive landscaping, as well as miniature models of flyovers, bridges, tunnels, bus stops, sub-ways, traffic signals, roads with zebra crossings, no-parking signs, directional boards, lane markings, and silence zones.

Traffic personnel will organise frequent park traffic awareness campaigns and demonstrations. The MBMC also aims to create a place where Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials will grant learning licences to 18-year-olds once or twice a week. Pratap Sarnaik, Dilip Dhole, Madhukar Pandey, and senior traffic department officials will attend the foundation stone laying ceremony on June 18.

Vehicles often cross lanes and cause crashes because drivers don't know the rules or don't follow them. "This park will help children learn about traffic rules early on, which will help them in the long run," said Sarnaik, who helped get funding from the state government. Deepak Khambit, a city engineer, said, "The government has already given us the money, and work will start right away so that the traffic park is ready for visitors in a year."
