Tribal leader from Chhattisgarh, Nana Kumar Sai quits BJP

A setback has been dealt to the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party in Chhattisgarh as senior tribal leader Nand Kumar Sai has resigned from the party after a long-standing association of over 40 years. This comes just before the Assembly elections scheduled to be held later this year. The state BJP chief Arun Sao has acknowledged Sai's resignation and mentioned that the party is currently unable to reach out to him, but will try to address any issues or misunderstandings he may have.

In the past, Nand Kumar Sai, who is 77 years old and has served as a two-time Lok Sabha MP and three-time MLA, held the position of state president for the BJP in both Chhattisgarh and undivided Madhya Pradesh. In his resignation letter, Sai stated that his colleagues were plotting against him and making baseless accusations in order to defame him, causing him great distress. According to Sushil Anand Shukla, the head of the communication wing of the Chhattisgarh Congress, the departure of Nand Kumar Sai, who is regarded as a knowledgeable, courteous, and accommodating leader, indicates that the BJP is mistreating and disregarding tribal leaders.
