Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 13.71-km Eastern extension line of Bengaluru metro on Saturday, which cost Rs 4,129 crore and adds 63 stations to the city's metro network, making it the second largest after Delhi. After examining the station's installations, he rode the first train piloted by a female loco pilot and interacted with passengers. The line has 8 stations and five trains will run at a frequency of 12 minutes, with the Kadugodi depot for maintenance. The BMRCL expects a ridership of 1.5 lakh on the line.
