Pakistani drone downed by BSF near Amritsar, Punjab, for the fourth time in two days

In the Amritsar sector on Saturday night, the Border Security Force (BSF) downed a Pakistani drone, the fourth in the previous two days. 3.3kg of heroin was found in three sachets that the BSF also found linked to the drone, according to officials.

The BSF troopers shot and killed three drones on Friday night. Two of these drones were found, while one ended up in Pakistani territory, according to officials.A BSF spokesperson reported that on Saturday at 8:50 p.m., the troops stationed in the deep area heard what they believed to be a drone buzzing close to the Amritsar village of Dhanoe Kalan. He claimed that BSF forces effectively downed it in accordance with the practise.

The BSF troops discovered a drone (quadcopter, DJI Matrice, 300 RTK) and a package containing three packets of suspected narcotics in a field in the hamlet during their initial search of the region. The package was linked to the drone with an iron ring. For easy smuggler identification, four luminous strips were also discovered affixed to the shipment, he added.

A high-level coordination conference involving representatives of the BSF and Punjab Police was held in Amritsar a few days before the simultaneous downing of two drones. Combating the risk that drones may be used to smuggle weapons, ammo, and drugs across the border was the main item on the agenda for the meeting.
