The creation of cyclone Biparjoy in the Arabian Sea, among other variables, may cause the beginning of the monsoon to be delayed by at least five days in Mumbai and the rest of Maharashtra, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The formal start of the monsoon in Mumbai is between June 10 and 11, however, according to IMD authorities, the commencement is most likely to occur between June 14 and June 16. Kerala's monsoon season began formally on June 1st. The onset often begins in Kerala and travels north. Kerala has not yet received it, according to Sunil Kamble, head of IMD Mumbai. In addition to surface winds blowing between 15 and 20 knots, Kamble predicted that at least 10 out of the 14 districts in Kerala and then Karnataka will see constant rainfall of more than 2.5 mm over two days.
These circumstances, nevertheless, have not yet materialized. Cyclone Biparjoy, which was forming in the Arabian Sea on Tuesday, has gone far north, according to authorities. According to the most recent forecast, the depression over the southeast Arabian Sea has been moving northward at a speed of 11 km/hour over the past three hours and has been over the same region, which would be 950 km to the west-southwest of Goa, around 1,100 km southwest of Mumbai, 1190 km south-southwest of Porbandar, and 1,490 km south of Karachi. A week will pass before things return to normal, and monsoon season may arrive in Mumbai between June 14 and June 15, according to another authority.
