In a groundbreaking achievement, Seven women secured positions in the top 10 successful candidates of the State Service Examination 2019 conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission, headquartered at Indore.
Priya Pathak emerged as the topper, securing the prestigious role of deputy collector. Hailing from Satna and with a humble background, Priya's success brought relief to MPPSC candidates after a prolonged wait.
The announcement marked the end of a prolonged legal dispute related to the government's decision to increase the OBC quota from 14% to 27%.
The rank-wise order of the top 10 positions is as follows: Shivangi Baghel, Pooja Soni, Rahul Kumar Patel, Nidhi Mishra, Harneet Kaur Kalsi, Sourabh Mishra, Saloni Agrawal, Reetika Patidar and Ashutosh Mahadev Singh Thakur.
Originally, 571 posts were advertised for the State Service Examination 2019. However, due to a case related to the 27% OBC reservation pending in the Madhya Pradesh High Court, results for 87% of these posts have been declared. The result of the remaining 13% awaits the court's conclusive decision on the matter.
The release of the provisional list for 484 positions (87%) in the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) 2019 faced significant delays. Held in 2020 (prelims) and 2021 (mains), revisions in the prelims, prompted by a court order, made an additional 2,700 candidates eligible for the main exam.
A special exam followed for these individuals, and combining results from both original and special exams, a new merit list identified 1,983 candidates eligible for interviews. Notably, some candidates from the old merit list faced disqualification.
In the 87-13% allocation, 1,460 candidates were interviewed for 484 positions, with 523 more awaiting interviews after the resolution of the OBC quota dispute. This complex journey reflects the challenges in the MPPSC 2019 examination process.
