More than 40 people detained for questioning over the Poonch incident

More than 40 people have been detained for questioning as part of a large-scale operation to track down the terrorists responsible for the Poonch terror attack, which occurred last Thursday. The operation, which has involved additional troops and multiple security agencies, has intensified the cordon-and-search operation in Bhata Dhurian-Tota Gali and surrounding areas. The entire area has been put under cordon, and troops are searching for natural cave hideouts that may have been used by the terrorists in the past. They are also looking for any improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that may have been planted in the area.

According to officials, the terrorists likely hid in a culvert on the Bhimber Gali-Poonch road before attacking the army truck that was carrying fruits, vegetables, and other items for an Iftar celebration. According to officials, a sniper aimed at the army truck from the front, and then the terrorists fired bullets and threw grenades from opposite sides. The terrorists used steel core bullets that were capable of penetrating the armored shield, and they took the soldiers' arms and ammunition before escaping. The armored vehicle was discovered with over 50 bullet holes, as per reports.

The Bhimber Gali-Poonch road, which was closed after the attack, has now been reopened for traffic. Experts from various agencies, including the National Security Guard and the National Investigation Agency, have visited the site of the attack to investigate the incident. On Sunday, hundreds of people in Kishtwar took part in a candlelight march to show solidarity with the families of the slain soldiers who were from a Rashtriya Rifles unit deployed for counter-terror operations. As per reports, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, the Northern Commander of the Indian Army, has announced that the necessary measures to apprehend the terrorists accountable for the attack are currently being carried out.
