Police reported on Saturday that at least 15 people were hurt when presumed Kuki terrorists targeted two villages in Manipur's Imphal West district using high-tech weaponry and bombs.
In response, the Manipur Rifles and state police officers stationed at the two villages of Phayeng and Kangchup Chingkhong engaged in a firefight that lasted over four hours on Friday night and drove the militants away to nearby hills.
The two victims have been hospitalized at Raj Medicity and the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal, where their health indicators are listed as critical, according to officials.
There have been reports of further attacks in the past twenty-four hours from Pombikhok in the Bishnupur district, but no casualties or injuries have been reported.
Seven dead were found in the Sugnu-Serou region of the Kakching district by a team made up of Manipur Police, Border Security Force, and Assam Rifles.
The bodies have been brought to the JNIMS morgue, according to the police, who also stated that they died in the shooting that erupted a week ago at Sugnu after equipped Kuki militants stormed Sugnu.
