The temple trust in Ayodhya has chosen renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj to create the idol of Ram Lalla for the magnificent Ram temple. The idol will be installed during the consecration ceremony on January 22. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi announced the selection on social media, expressing his pride in Yogiraj's craftsmanship. Former Karnataka chief minister B. S. Yediyurappa also congratulated Yogiraj and praised the selection of the idol.
Who's Arun Yogiraj?
Arun Yogiraj comes from a lineage of five generations of renowned sculptors in Mysore. He began sculpting at a young age and drew inspiration from his father and grandfather, who were also artists. After working in the corporate sector, Yogiraj decided to pursue sculpting full-time in 2008.
Apart from the Ram Lalla idol, Yogiraj has created several impressive sculptures, including a 30-foot statue of Subhash Chandra Bose displayed near India Gate in Delhi and a 12-foot-tall sculpture of Adi Shankaracharya in Kedarnath. He has also carved a 21-foot-tall Hanuman statue in Mysore.
The Ram temple complex in Ayodhya is planned to be 161 feet tall, 380 feet long, and 250 feet wide, all in the ancient Nagara architectural style. The temple will have twenty feet on each floor. There is even more suspense and excitement around the major Ram temple consecration ceremony because Yogiraj was chosen to carve the statue.
