As the protest against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh entered its 18th day, the protesting wrestlers and their supporters observed Thursday as "Black Day" by donning black bands. Leading Indian grapplers Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Satyawart Kaidyan, and Jitender Kinha all wore black bands as a symbol of protest on their foreheads, while a number of their supporters also wore them on their arms.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the president of the Wrestling Federation of India, has been targeted by the wrestlers for his alleged sexual exploitation of multiple female competitors, including a minor. The BJP MP is the target of two FIRs from the Delhi Police, one of which is under Section 10 of the POCSO Act, and is contesting every allegation.
Today is a "black day" in retaliation against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Since the entire country is supporting us in this battle, we are convinced that we will prevail, according to Bajrang. Our protest is gaining strength day by day, and we'll keep fighting until justice is served. To show their support for the wrestlers who are protesting, a sizable delegation of Bharat Kishan Union Ekta (Azad), primarily made up of women from Punjab, gathered at the Jantar Mantar on Thursday.Along with supporters from Sonipat, Sondood, and the Bhagat Singh Youth Union, Maharashtra also came out in support of the wrestlers on Thursday.
