Bengaluru Rural district police recently apprehended three individuals accused of a daring Nike shoe theft, an operation aiming to sell 1,558 pairs valued at Rs 1.10 crore for quick profit. The incident involved Shuban Pasha(30), Mansar Ali(26), and Shahidul Rehman(26), all hailing from Assam, with the alleged mastermind, Saleh Ahmed Laskar, currently evading capture.
The Theft:
On December 21st last year, Laskar, assigned as a driver, was tasked with transporting the Nike shoes from Attibele's showroom to Myntra's warehouse on Soukya Road. However, he deviated from the plan, leaving the Nike godown but failing to reach the designated Myntra site. Attempts to contact Laskar proved futile as his phone went off, raising suspicion.
Discovery and Investigation:
Alerted by the absence of the consignment, Manjunath, Laskar's supervisor, tracked the vehicle via GPS near Tarabanahalli. Arriving at the location, he found the truck abandoned, devoid of the valuable footwear. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged, prompting a review of CCTV footage by the police, revealing a well-coordinated scheme where the shoes were unloaded, stashed, and then transferred to another vehicle.
The Pursuit:
Armed with vehicle registration details, the police intercepted the transportation of the stolen goods, highlighting a deliberate effort. Further scrutiny disclosed Laskar's prior involvement in similar thefts, having joined the operation a week before this incident.
Confession:
Upon interrogation, the arrested admitted their plan to sell the shoes at discounted rates in metropolitan cities, aiming for a quick turnover.
The hunt continues for Laskar, the alleged mastermind behind this orchestrated theft, while the apprehended individuals face legal repercussions for their involvement in the scheme.
