1360 Indians evacuated from war-torn Sudan so far in Operation Kaveri

The Indian Airforce pilots have been conducting a rescue mission in the war-torn country of Sudan under the operation name 'Operation Kaveri.' As of now, 1,360 stranded Indians have been successfully evacuated and brought back to India. However, during the evacuation operation on the night of April 27 and 28, from a small airstrip located 40 kilometres north of the violence-hit Sudanese capital of Khartoum, the IAF pilots faced numerous challenges. The small degraded airstrips and unlit runways made the evacuation operation extremely difficult for them.
Despite facing several challenges, the IAF pilots managed to rescue 121 individuals from Wadi Sayyidna in Sudan, including individuals who required medical attention, a pregnant woman, and those who had no means of reaching Port Sudan.

Bharat Bhushan Babu, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence, tweeted on April 29, 2023 (Saturday) that the approximately two-and-a-half-hour operation between Wadi Sayyidna and Jeddah would be remembered in the history of IAF for its daring nature and perfect execution, similar to the one carried out in Kabul.
