11-year-old Girl has Established Three Libraries in Hyderabad with 4,834 Books.

Three libraries have been set up by 11-year-old Akarshana Sathish in Hyderabad. Akarshana started her hunt by collecting books from her neighbors, peers, and family members. She was able to gather 4,834 books in all, which she utilized to establish the children-friendly library.

One is located in Sanath Nagar Police Station and has 829 books, while the other is located at MNJ Cancer Children's Hospital.

At the Special-cum-Children Home and Observation Home for Girls in Nimboliadda, Hyderabad, she established a third library with 625 books. On Wednesday, Bharati Hollikeri from the Indian Administrative Service and Shikha Goel from the Indian Police Service inaugurated the library.

The 11-year-old said, “During COVID times, I collected books from family friends, school friends, and my neighbors. I collected a total of more than 4,800. I have set up two libraries, one at MNJ Cancer Children’s Hospital and another at Sanath Nagar Police Station,” while Speaking to ANI.

She continued by adding, "Here, I have established my third library here at the Observation Home for Girls at Nimboliadda, Kachiguda. Here we have set up a total of 625 books which consist of 425 Telugu books, 150 English, and 50 Hindi along with fiction, non-fiction, and general knowledge books. My inspiration is my father. He has undertaken many social service works and I want to follow his path.”

Shikha Goe, IPS, said, “I congratulate Akarshana, an 11-year-old of Hyderabad who has got this idea of donating books and creating libraries in places where no libraries exist. She created a library for us and started one in a police station. Today we inaugurated a library in the Girls Home in Hyderabad."
