In honour of the opening of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, the government of Assam has declared it a "dry day." After a cabinet meeting under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Jayanta Malla Baruah, the minister of tourism, made the news. There will be more than 6,000 people at the event in Ayodhya, including leaders of the five National Democratic Alliance (NDA) states.
Other things that were talked about at the cabinet meeting were giving the Mising, Rabha Hasong, and Tiwa communities' three development boards more financial and management power. To get these towns more money, a plan will be sent to the centre.
For women who are part of self-help groups (SHGs), the government also approved a financial plan to help them start their own businesses. This plan will help about 49 lakh women. The cabinet made another move that added government workers and pensioners making less than ₹4 lakh a year to the National Food Security Act (NFSA). As part of the Ayushman Bharat plan, these people will also get health insurance worth 5 lakh rupees.
Aside from that, the Assam government's choices are meant to support women who want to start their own businesses, encourage culture and religious events, and give government workers and retirees social security benefits.
