With the launch of the Fronx and the Jimny simultaneously this year, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) hopes to increase its market share of SUVs to 24% in FY 2024.
Last year, we held 10.6% of the market share. At the media drive event for Fronx on Monday, senior executive officer, marketing and sales, MSIL, Shashank Srivastava, stated, "It grew to 12.6 percent in FY2023, and in the last quarter it grew to 17.5 percent."
Last year, the company included the new Brezza, Grand Vitara, XL6, and S-Cross in its SUV lineup.
This year, we will introduce two new products to the market. Additionally, we will offer a year-round sale of the Grand Vitara, which we introduced in September of last year,” Srivastava stated. With the development in SUV space, the biggest vehicle producer additionally plans to expand its complete piece of the pie to 50 percent from the current 43%.
“In the non-SUV market, we already hold a 65% share. Srivastava stated, "Our overall market share could reach 50% if we can get a 25% market share in the SUV space."
The company intends to launch the Fronx in the coming weeks. It will be sold from the Nexa location and will be built on the Baleno platform. A sub-4 meter SUV will have a 1 liter super supported motor and a 1.2 liter normally suctioned fuel motor with gentle mixture engines.
