Attention, luxury car aficionados! If exquisitely crafted cars make your heart race, buckle up for some thrilling news.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), the British arm of Tata Motors, is breaking tradition. For the first time in over 50 years, JLR will assemble its iconic Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs outside the UK, choosing India for this milestone. This move aims to meet the soaring demand from Indian customers, with local assembly reducing waiting times. The 'Made-in-India' Range Rovers will cater exclusively to the domestic market, while global demands will still be met by the UK plant.
Massive Price Cuts
Currently, only select models of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport are being assembled locally in India. This move towards local production offers Indian customers substantial savings on these luxury SUVs, as outlined below:

The localized versions of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will feature the same 3-litre turbo-petrol and diesel engines. Detailed specifications are provided below:

High Demand From India
This financial year, Range Rover SUV demand has soared by 160%, prompting a strategic shift. Since 2011, JLR has partnered with Tata Motors to produce vehicles in India. So far, 10 models, including the Range Rover Velar and Evoque, have been assembled at Pune's Chakan plant. This move will lower prices and shorten wait times. Locally assembled Range Rover deliveries begin today, with the Range Rover Sport following on August 16, 2024.
Rising demand and luxury market growth
India's luxury car market, dominated by Mercedes Benz, BMW, and Audi, sees annual sales nearing 50,000 units, with Mercedes Benz claiming almost half of this share.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), a more exclusive luxury brand with higher price tags, is set to tap into the expanding ₹1.5 crore-and-above segment.
Mercedes Benz already garners a quarter of its sales from this premium category. JLR predicts the Indian luxury car market will double to 100,000 units within five years.
Amba highlights a growing opportunity, noting a trend of younger influencers in purchase decisions. "We're pricing our products to attract hesitant buyers, and aim to reduce wait times, currently up to 12 months, over the next year."
Upcoming SUVs
In India, Land Rover's Range Rover series boasts a captivating array of models, including the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, and Range Rover Evoque. But the excitement doesn't end there. The brand is steering into the future with plans for an all-electric SUV, anticipated to make its debut before the curtain falls on 2024. Following closely, an electrifying rendition of the Range Rover Sport is earmarked for a 2025 rollout, with production set exclusively in the UK.
Buckle up for an electrifying ride ahead!
