Sanchez and Modi Seal Deal: Airbus-Tata Collaboration to Boost India's Aerospace Ambitions

The Group led by N. N. Chandrasekhar is jointly engaging with Airbus to locally assemble the C-295 military transport aircraft in India. Modis, along with Spain’s leader Pedro Sanchez, opened the TATA Aircraft C295 assembly facility at Vadodara, which marks a key milestone in India’s aerospace manufacturing. In 2021, the Ministry of Development characterized a Rs. 21935 Cr Agreement with Airbus defence and space S.A. for supply.
This occurrence proves to be a landmark event for India’s defence industry as it demonstrates the first private sector driven initiative for self-reliance in military aircraft manufacturing, in keeping with India's ‘Make in India’ vision.

Initiative to develop India’s first defence military hub

The C-295 is a medium transport aircraft, which is developed by airbus, designed to take over the Indian Air Force's ageing fleet of 748, and will also strengthen India’s defence along with establishing a solid domestic industrial base. Within the C-295 program, there are 56 C-295 aircrafts of which 16 will be supplied by ‘Airbus’ from Spain and 40 will be produced in India. It is anticipated that this program will employ a large number of people and assist in the transfer of technology.
Pm Modi  highlighted that this facility shall not just assemble the aircraft but shall also have testing, delivery as well as lifecycle maintenance capabilities. You cannot deny that this facility is likely to help MSMEs all over the country and shall help in position Vadodara, “The Centre of Transport Engineering”.
