Elon Musk is paying for some celeb blue ticks, just for kicks

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, acknowledged that he is covering the costs for certain noteworthy Twitter accounts to maintain their blue ticks, following the removal of the blue checkmark verification from accounts that hadn't paid a monthly fee to keep it. Many distinguished accounts belonging to public figures, politicians, and others had their blue verification checkmarks revoked. Twitter removed the government-funded labels from the profiles of several international media organizations, such as the US-based National Public Radio (NPR), British Broadcasting Corporation, and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), which suggested that their editorial content was influenced or funded by the government.

Last Friday (April 21), Musk revealed that he was covering the expenses of Canadian actor William Shatner, author Stephen King, and basketball star LeBron James to maintain their Twitter accounts' blue ticks. After Twitter Daily News tweeted that some celebrities had received free blue ticks from Musk, he responded by stating, "I’m paying for a few personally."
