Accounts of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Rahul Gandhi, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virat Kohli have had their blue ticks restored, though it is unclear whether they have paid for the verification. Some celebrities, such as former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah, has denied paying for the verification.
Twitter has not made any official statement on the matter, but reports suggest that the company is restoring the verified status for accounts with high follower counts. The blue tick was removed from the profiles of thousands of celebrities, politicians, and journalists earlier this week, but some high-profile personalities such as Stephen King, LeBron James, and William Shatner have retained their blue ticks as Elon Musk has announced that he will personally pay for these accounts.
