First woman to serve as NASA's "science chief"! The US space agency claims that Nicola Fox, who is now in charge of the Heliophysics Division, will be the department's first female science chief.
After weeks of rumours, NASA recently acknowledged them. As the next associate administrator for NASA's Science Mission Directorate, Fox will be in charge of overseeing all of the organization's scientific projects.
She will also reportedly oversee a NASA research team that will be set up in 2022 to help the American military identify and detect UFOs, also known as unidentified aerial phenomena.
Fox has published a number of articles and written for many scholarly journals. The American Astronautical Society awarded her the Carl Sagan Memorial Award in 2021 in recognition of her contributions to heliophysics.
