Axiom Space's Second Mission Includes First Ever Saudi Woman to go to Space

The second private Axiom Space mission to the International Space Station, which will include two Saudi astronauts and be led by a former NASA astronaut, is scheduled to launch on May 8.

Axiom stated on April 6 that its Ax-2 trip to the station, which will be carried out by a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft, is planned to launch on May 8 at the latest at 10:43 p.m. Eastern. May 10 at 11:40 a.m. Eastern, a launch that day would prepare for a docking at the station.

Saudi astronauts Rayyanah Barnawi and Ali Alqarni were chosen for the mission on February 12 by the Saudi Space Commission, and they will serve as the two mission specialists on Ax-2. While Barnawi will be the first Saudi woman in space, they will be the second and third Saudis to do it.
