Parliament session day 8 live: Opposition walks out amid PM Modi speech

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Rajya Sabha today during the motion of thanks on the President's speech, one day after launching a brutal attack on the Congress in the Lok Sabha. In his speech on Tuesday about the Motion of Thanks in the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Modi delivered a biting critique of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party. As the Opposition called for demonstrations and stormed into the House Well to demand justice for Manipur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started to respond to the Motion of Thanks to the President's address in the Lok Sabha.

House adjourned sine die 

The House passed the motion of thanks on the President's address after PM Narendra Modi responded to the debate, and the Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die on Wednesday.

The government is dedicated to bringing peace to Manipur: PM Modi 

The PM declared that the government is keen on restoring peaceful conditions in Manipur. "More than 500 arrests, there have been over 11,000 FIRs filed. The number of violent incidents is declining. Offices, colleges, and schools are operating now. Exams were also held there, and students are carrying on with their academic progress. All this gives us reasons to be hopeful for peace restoration."

"Manipur will reject all those elements attempting to incite conflicts there." Additionally, he told Congress that they should never forget that Manipur had the President's Rule implemented 10 times. Such incidents also took place in Manipur in 1993. Modi continued, "We should take lessons from the past and work to bring about peace again."

'We demanded our Constitutional rights. The chairman refused to grant the LoP's (Malikarjun Kharge) request to interject. He should have remembered that the PM, the Home Minister, and other lawmakers had unconstitutionally interrupted LoP (Rahul Gandhi) during his speech in the Lok Sabha. A Shiv Sena (UBT) representative, Priyanka Chaturvedi, states, "We walked out to keep the dignity of the House intact."

PM Modi addresses the Rajya Sabha about the subject of paper leaks

In his speech to the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Modi addressed the problem of paper leaks, saying, "The opposition sacrificed an important matter at the altar of politics." The administration will not spare the guilty, I promise the youth of India. We're taking steps to make sure they receive a heavy punishment. Additionally, we created a strict law for it."

Mallikarjun Kharge charges the PM of lying during his speech to the Rajya Sabha

After leaving the House, Mallikarjun Kharge spoke to the media and charged that Prime Minister Modi had lied during his speech. He added, "We walked out because the PM was addressing the House on the President's address and told some wrong things to the House."

When he was talking about the Constitution, I asked him one question: you people weren't the ones who created it; you were the ones who opposed it. All I was doing was pointing out who the supporters and opponents of the Constitution were. The RSS have been against the Constitution. They set fire to the effigies of Pandit Nehru and BR Ambedkar.

Why the Opposition MPs staged a walkout during the PM's address to the House

On Wednesday, the Leader of the Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge, was not allowed to respond during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech, which prompted the Congress-led INDIA bloc parties to leave the Rajya Sabha. MPs began yelling slogans and demanding Kharge's chance to speak when Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar denied his request to interject. Modi went on with his address notwithstanding the interruption. Kharge was eventually denied the opportunity to speak, despite their repeated requests, and the MPs from the INDIA bloc chose to leave the House

Jagdeep Dharkhar claims that the Opposition has insulted the Constitution 

Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dharkhar claims that the Opposition has insulted the Constitution. He attacked the Opposition, claiming that even though the Leader of the Opposition was allowed to speak, he had insulted the constitution. "I allowed the Leader of the Opposition to speak freely. It is the constitution that he has turned his back on, not you or me. The Constitution has been insulted by him. I condemn their behaviour. 

The Opposition stages a walkout during PM Modi's address in the Rajya Sabha

During his speech on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed at the opposition as they staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha. "They (Opposition) are running away as they can't hear the truth," he stated. Raising their banners, the opposition leaders demanded that the leader of the opposition be allowed to address the parliament's upper house. Speaker of the RS Jagdeep Dhankhar described it as an affront to the constitution in the meantime.

The Prime Minister's speech in the Rajya Sabha was disrupted by the leaders of the opposition, who raised protests demanding that the Leader of the Opposition be allowed to address the Parliament's upper body.

Addressing the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi stated that, in India's long democratic history, the people elected a government for the third time in as many decades. Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that India "rejected the politics of illusion in the Lok Sabha election and prioritised performance over propaganda" at the start of his speech in the Rajya Sabha, to the dissatisfaction of the opposition.
