In the recent talks in Israel, senior US officials have tried to negotiate a ceasefire with Hezbollah. The Lebanon's health ministry reports 45 deaths in only 24 hours from Israeli airstrikes in the northeast Bekaa valley and infantry battles along southern Lebanon.
US envoys visited Israel
In northern Israel seven people, including four Thai agricultural workers, were killed by rocket fire from Lebanon. Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati expressed optimism for a quick resolution but also criticized Israel’s “ongoing escalation,” which he said, is dimming hopes for a peaceful outcome. Israel was visited by two highest-ranking US ambassadors. The both US envoys met with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to discuss a ceasefire proposal, which mirrors the terms of the 2006 ceasefire that ended the previous conflict with Hezbollah. Under this proposal, Israel would withdraw its forces, and Hezbollah would cease its armed presence in southern Lebanon.
The Rejection from Hamas
In the West Bank violence has continued. Three Palestinians were killed by Israeli troops who raided towns in search of militants. Hamas has also rejected a temporary cease-fire, calling for a final solution and an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. The conflict has also hindered humanitarian activity. The UN Palestinian refugee agency reported that Israeli forces damaged its headquarters n the Nur Shams camp in the West Bank.
