Vasundhara Oswal, daughter of prominent business tycoons Pankaj and Radhika Oswal, has emerged as a significant figure within the Oswal Group Global. This diversified conglomerate has interests across various sectors, with Vasundhara playing a crucial role in steering initiatives focused on sustainability and innovative practices at PRO Industries.
Recently, Vasundhara made headlines due to her alleged detention in Uganda since October 1, 2024. Reports indicate that during a visit to an Extra-Neutral Alcohol (ENA) plant, she was taken by armed individuals identifying themselves as law enforcement officers, acting without a warrant or formal charges.
Allegations of Legal Injustice
In an open letter to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, Pankaj Oswal claimed that his daughter is being denied legal representation and access to her family. He alleges that her detention is the result of false accusations from a former employee, who purportedly stole valuable assets and secured a $200,000 loan with the Oswal family as guarantors.
Radhika Oswal has expressed profound emotional distress over her daughter’s situation. In a heartfelt appeal to the Ugandan government, she described the ordeal as “every mother’s nightmare,” emphasising her daughter's innocence and the urgent need for her safety.
Prominent human rights lawyer Cherie Blair has taken on Vasundhara’s case, characterising her situation as traumatic and calling for immediate intervention from the United Nations. Reports suggest that Vasundhara is enduring harsh conditions in custody, facing inadequate food and unsanitary living conditions.
Before her detention, Vasundhara had established herself as a prominent player in the business world. Born in 1999, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from a Swiss university and currently serves as the Executive Director at PRO Industries. Her hands-on management approach includes overseeing projects and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
In addition to her role at PRO Industries, Vasundhara is also involved with Axis Minerals, where she focuses on investment strategies and operational development. Known for her proactive management style, she frequently visits construction sites to ensure efficient project execution.
