15 Houthi-Controlled Sites in Yemen Hit by US Airstrikes

US Forces Targeted Huthis in Yemen yesterday, US military conducted a series of coordinated strikes against 15 Huthi-held in different locations in Yemen on Friday. US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that it conducted these operations. They said these were conducted to curb Huthi military capabilities and ensure safer international waters for global shipping. The strikes targeted four provinces, including key areas like Sanaa and Hodeida. The Huthis, an Iran-backed rebel group, have been involved in numerous attacks on merchant vessels passing through the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. These strikes are viewed as a critical response to the increasing maritime threats that have disrupted one of the world's most crucial shipping lanes.US Forces Targeted Huthis in Yemen

US Military Explains Strikes

According to a statement by US CENTCOM, these strikes are in the protection of freedom of navigation in international waters. Central Command still insisted that this move is necessary to make the international waters safer for US allies and coalition partners. The group attacked ships that it claims is associated with Israel. These escalations had called for Israel's retaliatory strikes-most recently in Hodeida, where Israeli airstrikes killed at least five people. Houthi media reported that seven airstrikes targeted the airport in Hodeida, a key port city, and the Katheib area, which has a military base controlled by the Houthis. Four airstrikes also hit the Seiyana area in Sanaa, the capital, and two more hit Dhamar province. They also mentioned three airstrikes in Bayda province in southeast of Sanaa.
