A peaceful picnic ended in unimaginable tragedy at Bhanvarsen Ghat in Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh, when four people drowned in the Son River.
The victims, identified as Jyoti Sen (24), Subhi Sen (15), Neelu Bais (22), and Lakhan Kewat (26), were bathing in the river when they were suddenly pulled into deep waters by a strong current and whirlpools.
Following a massive two-day search and rescue operation involving local police, SDRF, and district administration teams, all four bodies have been recovered.
Officials noted that this stretch of the Son River is notoriously dangerous due to unpredictable currents, especially during the monsoon season.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a grim reminder to exercise extreme caution near rivers, particularly in areas known for deep eddies.
Our deepest condolences go out to the families of the victims during this devastating time.
