Pune Porsche Case: Bombay High Court Orders Immediate Release of Accused Teen

Regular developments are being observed in the Pune Porsche Case. Today, the Bombay High Court has ordered the immediate release of the 17-year-old boy accused in the Pune Porsche accident case.

The court, comprising Justices Bharti Dangre and Manjusha Deshpande, declared the Juvenile Justice Board's (JJB) order to remand the minor to an observation home as illegal and without jurisdiction.

The court clarified that the teenager is under rehabilitation and had been referred to a psychologist and these sessions will continue.  "The CCL is under 18. His age needs to be considered," the bench noted.

The court's decision comes following a habeas corpus petition filed by the teenager's paternal aunt. The minor walked out of the observation home later in the day and was received by family members and escorted out by a police vehicle.

The custody of the teenager has been transferred to his paternal aunt as the minor's parents and grandfather are currently detained for an attempted cover-up of the incident.

"We allow the petition and order his release. The CCL shall be in the care and custody of the petitioner."

The incident, which occurred on May 19, involved a teenager driving his Porsche at a speed of 200 km/h and was allegedly under the influence, he crashed his car into a motorcycle, which tragically resulted in the deaths of two 24-year-old engineers.
