First Covid case reported in Noida

Officials have reported that a resident of Noida has tested positive for COVID-19 after a significant period, following a sudden increase in cases due to the emergence of the new strain JN.1. The confirmation of whether the individual was infected by the latest sub-variant of the coronavirus is still pending.

CMO Sharma stated that there has been a decrease in virus testing in the district this year. He mentioned that individuals have the option to undergo Covid testing at primary and community health centres as well as the district hospital.

In the meantime, the healthcare department has appealed to residents to adhere to Covid-appropriate measures due to concerns about the re-emergence of infections.

Kumar emphasized the importance of practising various measures such as washing hands with soap for a minute, maintaining social distancing, utilizing alcohol-based sanitisers, and wearing face masks when outside, among other precautions.

Dr Sunil Sharma, the Chief Medical Officer of Gautam Buddh Nagar, stated that the individual under observation is a 54-year-old man residing in Noida. However, he works at a multinational company located in Gurugram. Dr. Sharma mentioned that the patient's test sample has been dispatched to Delhi for genome sequencing, and they are currently awaiting the results. Ghaziabad records three cases of COVID

In addition to Noida, Ghaziabad has recorded three cases thus far amidst the recent escalation in Covid-19 cases. All the affected individuals are currently self-isolating at their residences.

Kerala reports over 250 fresh cases

According to the Union Health Ministry website on Friday, Kerala recorded 265 new COVID-19 cases and one fatality in the past 24 hours. As per the website, out of the 328 coronavirus cases reported across the country until 8 am today, 265 were from Kerala. This brings the total number of active cases in the state to 2,606. With the addition of one death, the total number of COVID-19-related fatalities in Kerala since the beginning of the outbreak three years ago has now reached 72,060.
