Hard work spanning an entire year has been washed away in just four days.
The banana farmers of Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, the state’s largest banana-producing district, are facing a catastrophe after fierce winds of 40-60 km/h tore through their fields.
Reports indicate that out of the 25,000 hectares of banana cultivation in the region, nearly 10,000 hectares have been completely decimated, resulting in losses worth crores of rupees.
With no weather-based insurance coverage for their crops, many farming families are now facing an existential crisis.
Farmers are urgently calling for Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to visit the district and provide a special relief package of 1000 crores to help them recover.
Do you believe the government should provide a special relief package for these farmers?
