Zen Technologies unveils India Made AI-powered "Prahasta" robot for Defence Missions

In a significant leap for India's defence sector, Hyderabad-based Zen Technologies, a leading provider of anti-drone technology and defence training solutions, has unveiled a suite of innovative products aimed at enhancing defence capabilities globally. This move aligns with India's record-high defence production of approximately ₹ 1.27 lakh crore in 2023–24 and the milestones achieved under the Make in India programme.

Zen Technologies, in collaboration with its subsidiary AI Turing Technologies, has launched four cutting-edge products: Prahasta, Hawkeye, Barbarik-URCWS, and Sthir Stab 640. Each of these products is designed to provide tactical superiority and improved operational efficiency for defence forces.

Prahasta: The AI-Powered Quadruped

Prahasta, an AI-powered robotic quadruped, stands out among the new offerings. Utilising LiDAR (light detection and ranging) and reinforcement learning, Prahasta creates real-time 3D terrain maps for superior mission planning, navigation, and threat assessment. This automated quadruped is designed to act as the first line of defence in counter-insurgency operations, potentially saving lives during critical missions such as the 26/11 attacks.

Hawkeye: Anti-Drone Camera System

Hawkeye is an advanced anti-drone camera system capable of tracking drones in all weather conditions up to 15 km. This system addresses the growing need for effective drone detection and neutralisation, a crucial aspect of modern defence strategies.

Barbarik-URCWS: Ultralight Remote-Controlled Weapon Station

The Barbarik-URCWS is touted as the world's lightest remote-controlled weapon station. It offers precise targeting capabilities for calibres ranging from 5.56 mm to 7.62 mm, suitable for both ground vehicles and naval vessels. This invention reduces personnel risk while maximising battlefield effectiveness.

Sthir Stab 640: Stabilised Sight for Armoured Vehicles

Sthir Stab 640 is a durable stabilised sight designed for armoured vehicles, infantry combat vehicles (ICVs), and boats. This product enhances situational awareness and targeting precision, making it a valuable addition to any defence arsenal.

Zen Technologies' Chairman and Managing Director, Ashok Atluri, emphasised the significance of these innovations, stating,

"These products represent a significant advancement in autonomous defence operations. We believe the launch of these products will raise awareness about the need to integrate advanced robotics into combat and reconnaissance missions. Our self-funded products will further enable Zen to offer an expanded range of cutting-edge technologies to both current and prospective clients."

Shares of Zen Technologies have reflected a positive market response, settling at ₹ 1,362.00 apiece on the BSE on Monday, marking a 5 percent increase from the previous close.

These advancements underscore Zen Technologies' commitment to bolstering defence capabilities and operational efficiency, marking a noteworthy contribution to India's growing stature in the global defence market.
