Rishi Sunak’s wife Akshata Murthy earns Rs 68 crore profit from Infosys

Akshata Murty, the wife of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the daughter of Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy, would receive Rs 68.17 crore in dividend income from her ownership in the IT company.

As of December 31, 2022, Akshata would receive a dividend of Rs 68.17 crore on 3,89,57,096 shares, or 0.93 percent of the stake she held as one of Infosys' promoters, in accordance with the shareholding pattern for the December quarter. The most recent ownership pattern has not yet been released.

For FY23—April 2022–March 2023—Infosys declared a final dividend of Rs 17.50 per share. She would receive Rs 68.17 crore if Akshata kept her shareholding until the record date, June 2 of this year. On July 3, the dividend would be paid.

One of the best profit-making companies in India is Infosys.

Infosys paid an interim dividend of Rs 16.50 per share in addition to the final dividend it announced for FY23. With this, the all-out profit per share for FY23 remained at Rs 34 for each offer, which is a 9.7 percent increment over FY22. The company announced a total dividend of Rs 14,200 crore for FY23 in terms of value.

In October of last year, Sunak, 42, became Britain's youngest leader in modern times and its first prime minister of Indian descent.

Sunak is British, but Akshata, who is also the First Lady of the UK, is an Indian citizen. A contentious issue in the UK has been her non-domiciled status, which allows her to earn money abroad without paying taxes in Britain for up to 15 years.

Akshata Murty was born in Hubballi, Karnataka, her mother Sudha Murty's hometown. She attended school in Bengaluru before attending Claremont McKenna College in California, where she received a double major in economics and French.

After earning a diploma in fashion design from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, she worked for Deloitte and Unilever for a brief period of time. She then went to Stanford to get her MBA, where she met Rishi Sunak.

They tied the knot in 2009. Krishna and Anoushka are the couple's two children and have a sizable real estate holding.
