Jio Platforms IPO to Open on October 21, Price Band Set at Rs 1,065-1,119, Could Raise Over Rs 30,000 Crore

It has been talked about for years, and now it has a date. Jio Platforms’ public issue opens on October 21, and investors will be able to bid at Rs 1,065 to Rs 1,119 per share. At the top of that band, the company could raise about Rs 30,213 crore, enough to overtake Hyundai India’s record for the country’s largest IPO.

Jio filed its final prospectus on October 14, the same day its IPO committee fixed the price band.

Dates to note

The anchor round comes first, on October 19. The issue then opens to everyone on October 21 and closes on October 23. Allotment is expected on October 26, and the shares are expected to list on the BSE and NSE on October 28.

The size of it

The whole issue is fresh shares, up to 27 crore of them, each with a face value of Rs 10. At the bottom of the band, that brings in roughly Rs 28,755 crore, and at the top, about Rs 30,213 crore.

The top of the band puts Jio’s value at around Rs 10.3 lakh crore, or roughly 107 billion US dollars. That number is what the market would be saying the whole company is worth, not what the company is collecting from the IPO.

If you’re thinking of applying

A single lot is 12 shares, which means a minimum bid of Rs 13,428 at the Rs 1,119 cap. Employees who apply under their reserved quota get Rs 54 off each share.

Anchor investors, mostly large institutions, put their money in before the public. Market watchers pay close attention to how they respond, since it often hints at the mood for the rest of the issue.

A note on the grey market

Reports say Jio shares are quoting at a premium of about Rs 206 in the unofficial grey market, which would suggest a listing near Rs 1,325. That premium is informal and swings quickly, so it is not a promise of anything.

What to watch

Where the final price lands inside the band, how well the reserved portions are subscribed, and how the stock behaves on listing day will tell the real story. Anyone planning to bid should read the prospectus first and think about their own appetite for risk. This is a news report, not investment advice.
